Cosentino identifies five trends that will define the coming years and shares insights and inspiration from some of the world's leading designers and architects who are driving the industry forward.
Cosentino, manufacturer of sustainable materials for architecture and design, has launched its first Global Trend Report: "Shaping Tomorrow: Future Design & Architecture". This trend report reveals five key macro trends: Origin, Solace, Nature, Urban and Wonder, and shows how these trends will affect design and architecture in the coming years.
Global Trend Report 2025
With more than 400 pages, the report explores these trends through informative texts, inspiring mood boards, colour palettes, key words, micro trends, global case studies, material choices and interviews with internationally recognised designers and visionaries. To bring new ideas about living and architecture to life, the publication features works by digital artists, illustrators, photographers and stylists who have visually interpreted the five trends and connect theory with practice.
As for the interviews, several voices are featured, including: Tom Dixon and Tom Faulkner, British designers; Serena Confalonieri, Milan-based designer and art director; Kathryn Gustafson, co-founder of Gustafson Porter + Bowman; Fernando Laposse, Mexican designer; Regina Sturrock, founder of Regina Sturrock Design; Ana Milena Hernández Palacios and Cristophe Penasse of design studio Masquespacio; Patricia Bustos, Spanish interior designer; and João Armentano, Brazilian architect of Armentano Arquitetura, among dozens of others.
Cosentino collaborated with journalist and editor Enric Pastor and Judith van Vliet, founder of The Color Authority, to explore and present each of these trends through in-depth storytelling, thought-provoking original photography and an exploration of colour and texture, to show how these trends will shape the future of design. This first Global Trend Report highlights how Cosentino, operating in more than 120 countries, continues to innovate in international design.
The 5 trends
1. Origin
Back to basics: Local culture, architecture, food and fashion influence our tastes, values and beliefs. In an ever-changing world, design with a focus on origin creates a stronger emotional connection and embraces the richness of heritage.
Colours: Vibrant and vintage green, burgundy, yellow-green and terracotta orange.
Materials & finishes: Dekton Kraftizen Umber, Dekton Pietra Kode Ceppo and Avorio, petrified wood, cactus skin and yaré fibre.
2. Solace
Designing for emotion: Colour is more than a detail; it stimulates emotions and determines interactions with the environment. Designs that take emotional needs into account have an impact on human well-being and combine textures, scents, colours and lighting to create a dynamic and supportive environment.
Colours: Soft greens, aqua, pastel violet, soft peach and warm neutrals.
Materials & finishes: Silestone Le Chic Bohème Versailles Ivory, Dekton Pietra Edition Sandik, Dekton Onirika Trance, Sensa Vancouver, porous ceramic, silk and acrylic.
3. Nature
Designing with and for nature: Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in design. The Nature trend embraces a more conscious approach to materials, where reuse and minimalism play a greater role.
Colours: Greyish green, blue-black, muted orange, avocado green and ecru.
Materials & finishes: Silestone Sunlit Days Posidonia Green, Earthic by Silestone XM, Dekton Pietra Kode Grigio, wood, wool and eco-friendly materials.
4. Urban
Designing cities of the future: Urban growth places new demands on architecture and design. Finding the balance between heritage and innovation, tranquillity and dynamism, and new forms of living is essential for modern cities.
Colours: Medium red, classic blue, warm grey, bright yellow and deep purple.
Materials & finishes: Dekton Pietra Edition Trevi, Silestone Le Chic Romantic Ash, Silestone Urban Crush Brass Relish, Sensa Black Beauty, woven awnings, concrete and brick.
5. Wonder
Bending reality and exceeding expectations: Wonder promotes a human-centred approach in design, with surprise, wonder and emotion at its heart. Designs that break with predictability and the mundane are gaining popularity.
Colours: Reddish blue, bluish red, reddish yellow, blue-green and almost black-purple.
Materials & finishes: Dekton Laurent and Amethyst, Silestone Le Chic Bohème Jardin Emerald, Dekton Khalo, textured vases, deco tiles and recycled materials.
