Umbrella Furniture is announced as the official furniture consultant for both talks stages at this year's Workplace Design Show (26th -27th February) presents the Design Talks Stage designed by Gensler and the Insights Lounge designed by Ryder Architecture, in continuation of Umbrella's exemplary lead in the commercial interior community.
The Design Talks Area proudly delivered in partnership with global design practice Gensler, brings together some of the leading commercial designers in the industry to give inspiring and explorative talks over the two-day event. With the theme of 'Innovate the Senses', the stage will feature a design aimed at creating a fully immersive experience. Fagerhult lighting will enhance the space with an 8m Sun installation using LEDs that shift the mood from sunrise to sunset, mimicking the circadian rhythm. The space will be furnished with pieces from Cecoceco, Bartra, Ercol, Davison Highley, Lapalma, Boss, Norman Copenhagen and Origin, along with textiles from Camira, Svensson, and Milliken, all enclosed with a dramatic acoustic grid structure by Impact Acoustic and Seco Seco screens.
Umbrella further announces working with Ryder Architecture on the 'Insights Lounge' as the lead furniture consultant in the design of the unique space, labelled as the Wavescape Lounge. Drawing from coastal landscapes to stimulate the senses and create lasting impressions, the space will deliver an immersive and memorable environment for visitors and exhibitors. Featuring materials repurposed from ocean plastic waste, the Wavescape Lounge will address environmental challenges through a unique material palette. Alongside the use of ocean plastic waste, there is also breakdown waste; an application of using timber and temporary materials such as wood and ceramic. This approach showcases the potential of repurposed materials and demonstrates the power of conscious design in tackling ocean waste and promoting sustainable practices in the built environment.
'As one of the best shows in the design calendar, we are thrilled to see both stages come to life at this year's show after months in the making working with inspiring and creative teams,' says Matt Clarke, MD Umbrella Furniture, 'We look forward to networking with friends, colleagues, designers and architects and showcasing new products and trends at this important annual industry event.'
Umbrella's Managing Director, Matt Clarke will also be taking centre stage as part of the design talks at this year's show. Chaired by the Editor of Design Insider, Alys Byran will be discussing "Inclusivity in design -balancing functionality, aesthetic and the diverse needs of a workforce". Joining Matt on the panel will be Elena Panagiotidis, Managing Director at Siren Design, Marco Gastoldi, Associate at Gensler and Rachel Merriman, Head of Facilities for The FA Premier League. Delving into the workplace challenges we all face, the talk will take place 12:55 – 13:45 on the 27th of February at the Business Design Centre.
