Ikea will close its planning studio in Potsdam's city centre by late summer 2025 after operating for over four years. A company spokesperson confirmed the closure to the "Märkische Allgemeine" and stated that employees affected would be offered positions at other regional locations.

The planning studio, opened in October 2020 as Ikea Germany's second such location, showcased modular systems, smart home products, and select take-away items across living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom settings. The format was designed to provide a hands-on experience for customers.
Ikea described the planning studio concept as an "established format" but indicated that evolving requirements had prompted the decision to close the Brandenburger Straße location. The spokesperson explained, 'With the knowledge we have today, we would plan the location differently.'
Ikea is reportedly exploring new concepts for Potsdam as it continues to adapt its business model to customer needs.
