Bankruptcy restructuring leads to lay-offs for this US company

A corporate lay-off in Delaware, Ohio, will see 62 employees lose their jobs by 3 February 2025. The move follows poor financial performance and marks a permanent measure for the affected workforce. The lay-offs come as part of parent company Franchise Group's (FRG) Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring.

American Freight, a prominent retailer under FRG, is being dissolved as part of this process. A WARN notice filed on 2 December with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services confirmed the closure of the brand's headquarters at 109 Innovation Court.

FRG attributed the decision to sustained inflation and macroeconomic difficulties in the large durable goods sector. Store closing sales began on 5 November as the company winds down operations.
