Akante, the French design brand known for its elegant and functional furniture, recently participated in the Habitat Fair in Valencia, and according to Victoire Dauviau Lambert, Head of Communications and Marketing at Akante, the experience was a significant success: 'The Valencia show went very well. The stand was attractive and the fair was well attended by visitors.' We talk to Victoire to learn more about the brand's venture into the Spanish market and their upcoming showcase at Brussels Furniture Fair.
Strategic expansion in Spain
Akante's recent expansion efforts in Spain are progressing successfully. 'Expansion on the Spanish market is going well, thanks to the establishment of a network of sales representatives and a successful presence at the Valencia show,' Victoire explains. Akante's offering was new to this market, and the response was positive. The booth drew in many visitors who were impressed by Akante's unique offerings in the Spanish market.
This move aligns with Akante's goal to diversify its markets, particularly as the brand has faced challenges in the French market over the past year due to the difficult economy. However, Victoire notes that the situation in France has improved recently: 'The French market has picked up since June, so that's quite positive.'
Expectations for Brussels Furniture Fair
Akante's next stop is the Brussels Furniture Fair, where the team plans to showcase a range of new products, with a focus on their innovative ceramics and advanced furniture mechanisms. Victoire also expects a higher turnout this year: 'Since imm cologne will not be taking place this year, we are expecting a large number of visitors to see our products.'
At the fair, Akante will be unveiling a variety of new pieces that exemplify its commitment to quality and contemporary design. Among the highlights is the Bonifacio, a dining table with graceful, organic curves. Its tabletop is made from a combination of 6mm ceramic and 8mm glass, providing enhanced durability and a refined look.
Akante will also bring the Ocean, an eco-friendly dining table crafted from 100% recycled shells sourced in France. With its unique terrazzo finish and resilient build, the Ocean table offers both style and sustainability, available in oyster white or black. For those who crave versatility, the Orlando Lift offers a multifunctional experience with a lever mechanism that smoothly adjusts its height.
The new Washington dining table, featuring striking legs and extendable options up to three metres, promises ample space for family gatherings or professional settings. Akante's coffee tables are equally impressive, with the Sydney boasting fold-out tops and subtle wheels, making it both mobile and adaptable to various room configurations. Lastly, the Camelias captures attention with its flower-shaped design and synchronised unfolding mechanism, adding a blend of elegance and practicality to any living area. Available in seven ceramic colours, this piece embodies Akante's dedication to innovative, functional design.
Looking ahead
When asked about the future plans after Brussels Furniture Fair Victoire shares: 'We want to continue developing the retail and contract markets and boost exports to Western Europe.'
