The Otto Group officially opened its new logistics centre in Iłowa, Poland, today, nearly two and a half years after laying the foundation stone. This state-of-the-art facility is among the largest logistics locations in Europe and was inaugurated during a ceremony attended by Krzysztof Gawkowski, Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, and Prof. Dr. Michael Otto, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Otto Group. With investments in the mid three-digit million Euro range, the centre underscores the Otto Group's commitment to innovative logistics and European business.
Prof. Dr. Michael Otto emphasized the importance of Europe to the company's success, stating, 'The European market is a cornerstone of our ambitions.' Deputy Prime Minister Gawkowski highlighted the investment's potential to create jobs and bring cutting-edge technologies to the region.
The centre spans 260,000 square metres, with nine halls covering around 118,000 square meters of building space. It will be operated by Hermes Fulfilment, marking the company's first venture in constructing a site in another European country.
Equipped with advanced technology, including a high-speed pouch sorter capable of handling up to 18,000 items per hour, the facility is designed to enhance delivery efficiency and support the growing demands of e-commerce. The site is set to process up to 110 million consignments annually, with operations already underway and full capacity expected soon.

The opening also featured a tech panel discussing modern logistics challenges and opportunities, emphasising the strategic importance of the Iłowa location for the Otto Group's future.
