From 17th to 19th January 2025, the year's first Formex will take place – the premier event for Nordic interior design. A key highlight will be the main exhibition in the entrance square, which this time is being created by the digital creator Kristin "Krickelin" Lagerqvist. With her unique approach to creativity and expression, Lagerqvist will transform the entrance area into a living home with a focus on craftsmanship.
Formex will once again welcome national and international buyers, agents, wholesalers, importers, designers, producers, and the media, gathering twice a year to explore the latest trends in design and interiors. For 65 years, Formex has provided inspiration, trend insights, educational workshops, engaging speakers, and standout exhibitions. One recurring favorite is the entrance square exhibition, curated each time by a selected creator. In the recent two years, Tekla Severin, Lena Nyholm, Dennis Valencia, and Anna Starrén have been behind these acclaimed installations. This January, Kristin "Krickelin" Lagerqvist will take on the task.
'We are thrilled to have Kristin on board. It's the first time we've entrusted this project to someone without a traditional background in interior design, and it feels like a natural step towards broadening the definition of what interior design can be. Additionally, the demand from our visitors has been significant. Kristin has been a highly anticipated name in our surveys for quite some time,' says Sonja Björk Ebert, project manager for Formex.
"House of Creativity" – where creativity takes centre stage
The exhibition, named House of Creativity, will be designed as a home where creativity and making are integral to the interior. With earthy tones, dark furniture, vintage items, and ongoing craft projects in every room, the exhibition will be a living, inspiring environment. Spanning approximately 200 square metres, the installation draws inspiration from Formex's spring 2025 trends and will feature products from selected exhibitors.
'I want to create a space that encourages reflection, where every detail tells a story. Visitors will experience a home that feels alive, filled with sketches, craft materials, and art,' says Kristin Lagerqvist. House of Creativity will reflect a home where creativity and everyday life intertwine – where laughter, long dinners, dancing in the kitchen, and relaxation exist alongside creative joy.
Creative collaboration with invited creators from Halland
To enhance the sense of a living exhibition, Kristin Lagerqvist has invited several creators from Halland to contribute to the installation. Among the participating creators are Rebecca Charlez, Tammy Karlsson, Patricia Trambevski, Hanna Wendelbo, Lisa Burenius, Jennie Blomkvist, and Theoni Jirnell.
'I love working with the people around me and want to create something that represents the collective creative energy in my network. The exhibition will be dynamic, with visitors able to see projects at various stages depending on which creator is working in the space at the time,' explains Lagerqvist.
A unique opportunity
Creating the entrance square exhibition for Formex is the largest project of its kind for Kristin Lagerqvist to date.
'I feel incredibly honoured and proud to have been given this opportunity, and I'm thrilled that Formex is daring to think outside the box by giving someone without a traditional interior design background the chance to create House of Creativity. It's exactly this kind of forward-thinking that leads to unexpected and exciting results, and with the right people around you, you can achieve anything,' concludes Lagerqvist.
Formex takes place at Stockholmsmässan from 17th to 19th January 2025. Tickets will be released on 31st October.
