In July 2024, the volume of sales in retail trade in Belgium, excluding fuels, increased by 0.1% compared to June 2024. Notably, the volume of sales rose in half of the major trade sectors.

There was a significant increase of 12.7% in textiles, clothing, footwear, and leather goods in specialized stores, and a 12.7% rise in other household equipment in specialized stores. Additionally, there was a 0.1% increase in the retail sale of other goods in specialized stores.
Conversely, the largest decreases were observed in automotive fuel in specialized stores (-5.4%) and in non-specialized stores where food, beverages, or tobacco predominated (-4.2%).
Decrease compared to July 2023
When compared to July 2023, the volume of sales in retail trade, excluding fuels, decreased by 2.4%.
The only increases were seen in automotive fuel in specialized stores (3.8%) and other household equipment in specialized stores (0.4%).
