Ikea recently encountered a problem where over 2,000 customers were mistakenly charged amounts ranging from a few thousand to as much as 60,000 kroner due to a 'human error in handling' its IT system. An article in Wood Supply says this issue arose when payments were incorrectly processed following the full or partial cancellation of orders.

Christian Mouroux, Ikea's communication director, stated in the article that most affected customers have already received refunds and that the company is actively working to reimburse the remaining customers.
Mouroux assured that customers need not worry about future unauthorized charges, as Ikea is implementing measures to prevent such errors from happening again.
Details regarding the total amount involved and the specific timing of the error have not been disclosed.
Ikea operates six stores across Denmark, in Taastrup, Gentofte, Copenhagen, Odense, Aarhus, and Aalborg. The company draws significant traffic both online and in-store, with 9.3 million annual visits to its warehouses and 46.9 million visits to its website and app.
