Paris Design Week, 5-14 September 2024, is the major event in France for the design sector. This year, UniFor, a Molteni Group company, presents the Andromeda collection, a series of furniture designed by LSM, along with the Z Desk, designed by Foster + Partners Industrial Design, which completes the XYZ system created for the modern office environment.
The Andromeda Collection
The Andromeda Collection was recently launched at Milan Design Week in April. Designed by the international architecture studio LSM, with co-founder Debra Lehman Smith and Mark Alan Andre leading the project, this furniture collection offers an innovative blend of contemporary design and timeless elegance. It also showcases engineering excellence and unparalleled comfort.
The collection features large meeting tables, elliptical and round coffee tables, credenzas, and both curved and linear sofas. Each piece reflects modern sophistication, versatile design, and a commitment to timeless style. The unifying elements are polished or black chrome aluminum, enhanced by glass, travertine, and refined leather.
Andromeda is designed to seamlessly integrate into various contexts, blending naturally into workplaces, event spaces, and domestic areas. In professional environments, it reflects the company's image of innovation and prestige with its clean lines and attention to detail. In private homes, the collection becomes a distinctive element, adding uniqueness to the space.
'A decade in the making—and originally inspired by our clients—this collection is the culmination of my longstanding relationship with UniFor, always seeking out the most exacting pieces for my global clientele, and a manufacturer who can seamlessly produce my vision with the utmost precision,' says Debra Lehman Smith, LSM Founder.
The installation designed for the central showcase of the showroom transports the audience to the heart of Sicily. Enchanting images of the natural setting, which served as the backdrop for the collection's photos, unfold before visitors' eyes, whisking them away to the grand stage of the Teatro Andromeda. Chosen by UniFor's Art Director, Studio Klass, this location provided an unparalleled backdrop, perfectly capturing the essence of refinement and precision inherent in this collection.
'The purity of this place immediately struck us as capable of restoring that fine line between delicacy and precision, which lies at the conceptual heart of the collection and of UniFor. We could only speculate how the surfaces of the objects would interact with the surrounding space. The rest was pure exploration, always seeking the perfect light. The Andromeda collection immediately merged and integrated with the theatre, capturing the very essence of the space and making it its own. Together with Alberto Strada, we aimed to convey in the photographs the sense of freedom that the place gave us, capturing the moment of the shot in the most authentic and genuine way possible,' says Marco Maturo, Co-Founder of Studio Klass.
