XXXLutz introduces climate-Friendly, fully recyclable packaging

The XXXLutz Group, a major UK online furniture retailer, has successfully completed its test phase for sustainable packaging, marking a significant milestone. In collaboration with Stora Enso, a leading provider of renewable packaging materials, XXXLutz has developed eco-friendly packaging solutions made from natural, bio-based cellulose.

The Mäusbacher Möbelfabrik GmbH will soon deliver exclusive children's furniture for XXXLutz in this new paper-based packaging. The company plans to launch a complete range of children's furniture in this fully recyclable packaging later this year.

Sascha Matzner, responsible for ESG at XXXLutz, expressed pride in the team's dedication to this crucial initiative. The new packaging is based on Stora Enso's Papira, a lightweight wood foam material designed to address the need for climate-friendly, renewable, and recyclable cushioning materials. Following nearly a year of testing, the packaging has been validated through extensive case tests.

Günter Franc from XXXLutz highlighted that this initiative reflects a commitment to environmental sustainability and innovative packaging solutions. The test batch will be thoroughly analysed, laying the foundation for a comprehensive range of children's furniture in styrofoam-free and fully recyclable packaging.

Under its 'XXXL for Tomorrow' initiative, XXXLutz has integrated environmental consciousness across all areas of its operations, from construction to product selection. This includes energy-efficient building practices, sustainable product offerings, and environmentally friendly restaurant operations.
