Belgium's very first McDonald's has just received a major sustainable renovation. The new design of the restaurant, located at the Bourse in Brussels, includes chair shells, table tops and stools made of 100% recycled plastic. This innovation builds on a new circular decor concept that has been tested in France and is gaining momentum.
Also, more than 80% of the wood used is PEFC-certified. All energy-efficient lighting uses reusable luminaires with replaceable LED chips. Incidentally, the window shutters and hangings are made of recycled cardboard. Laminates, which are difficult to recycle, have been removed from all furniture and décor elements.
"Proud to be part of McDonald's sustainable transformation," shares Unilin Panels. "With wood that is 95% recycled, our melaminated Belspan and Antivlam were selected to furnish this Brussels restaurant."
