JYSK will open a new shop in Lier on Wednesday 4 September. It will be its 63rd shop in Belgium. This puts the Danish retailer over halfway through its growth plans in the country.
The store in Lier is a former branch of Fun, which JYSK acquired after its bankruptcy. With almost 2,000 square metres, it will be one of JYSK's largest shops in Belgium. Thanks to the warehouse space of more than 500 square metres, thousands of products will be immediately available from stock.
JYSK has also taken over the employment contracts of six former Fun employees in Lier. They were able to start working at JYSK immediately after the toy shop went bankrupt in February. "Over the past months, they have been trained in nearby shops. They are very happy that they can now work together again in their familiar location," says Store Manager Kenneth Blockx.
Newest concept
Kenneth himself started at JYSK just over a year ago and successfully completed the Store Manager training. For the past few months, he has already been in charge of the Willebroek shop. "We are opening a beautiful shop in Lier, fully equipped according to our latest concept. We are looking forward to welcoming the first customers," he says.
JYSK's latest shop concept features wood-look flooring and atmospheric lighting and offers customers even more inspiration. For example, there are six sample rooms, decorated according to JYSK's latest trends and collections. There is also a large mattress studio, where customers can test out products and get professional advice.
JYSK will celebrate the opening on Wednesday 4 September in Lier with free cakes, coffee and music. There are also several opening promotions, with discounts of up to 70 percent. At 9am, Store Manager Kenneth Blockx and his team will cut the ribbon.
Over half
This summer, JYSK already opened shops in Aalst (Erpe-Mere), Ypres, Pelt and Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse. In Ypres, JYSK also took over the shop and staff of Fun. JYSK wants to grow further in Belgium in the coming years, in order to be even closer to the customer. The ambition is to open at least 125 shops in Belgium. After opening in Lier, the Danish retailer is over halfway through its expansion plan in Belgium.
