New EU Clean Industrial Deal to advance the existing Green Deal

The EU's climate and energy policy is set to advance significantly with the introduction of the new Clean Industrial Deal. This will be implemented alongside the ongoing Green Deal.

The Clean Industrial Deal will address key issues such as decarbonisation, industrial competitiveness, and production capacity. This development is particularly promising for the mechanical and plant engineering sectors, as it aligns with industry demands for enhanced competitiveness.

The deal will feature new legislation aimed at accelerating industrial decarbonisation and a European Competitiveness Fund to support the energy transition. These measures are designed to expedite approvals, unlock investments, and fund clean technologies.

As the implementation of the Clean Industrial Deal progresses, the EU will also work on setting the 2040 climate target and establishing a legal framework to support it. This process will involve a thorough evaluation of previous implementation experiences and challenges before introducing new laws.

Stakeholder engagement will be crucial in developing effective climate and energy policies, ensuring that the legal framework not only strengthens but also integrates deeply with the EU's energy market as it approaches 2040.
