'300 iconic pieces, from Jane Austen to Wagner'

Historic furniture auction to be held in Copenhagen

Danske Bank is parting with a trove of historical furniture and art as it transitions from its traditional Holmens Kanal headquarters to a modern office at Kalvebod Brygge in Copenhagen. The auction house Bruun Rasmussen will handle the sale of around 300 iconic pieces, including mahogany furniture in the elegant 'Jane Austen' style and Danish furniture from the 1800s.

Notable items include Hans J. Wegner's renowned 'Jakkens hvile' chair, expected to fetch between DKK 40,000 and 50,000.

The collection, originally from Erich Erichsen's opulent mansion, represents the bank's rich cultural heritage and its historic settings. Anders Fredsted, a specialist at Bruun Rasmussen, highlights that the auction provides a rare chance to acquire pieces steeped in 250 years of furniture history and a century of banking tradition.

The auction will feature a live event on September 16 and an online auction on September 23. Both Danish and international collectors are anticipated to show great interest in these unique and historically significant items.
