The French organisation Ecomaison, dedicated to managing household objects and materials collected a total of 1.6 million tons of items last year. Furniture alone accounted for 1.5 million tons. They have been working for over a decade to extend product life through repair and reuse funds.
Last month Ecomaison released its annual collection, reuse, and recycling figures. The organisation operates in four sectors: Furniture, Building Construction Products and Materials, DIY and Garden Items, and Games & Toys. By the end of 2023, Ecomaison had over 12,000 member companies and managed 5.2 million tons of products in the market. It received €332.4 million in eco-contributions from its members across these sectors.

Ecomaison's extensive collection network, comprising 8,600 points including public and professional waste centres, distributors, retailers, and solidarity actors, ensures a collection point within 15 km for all French residents. The organisation boasts a 97% recovery rate through reuse, recycling, and energy recovery.
Focusing on Waste Furniture Elements (DEA), the sector continues to grow, with Ecomaison committing €140 million over the next six years to repair and reuse initiatives. The 'Repair Bonus' scheme is also being deployed to enhance repair services.
