High-street retailers across the UK fear threat of violent protesting

High-street retailers across the U.K. have faced violence and unrest stemming from far-right, anti-immigrant protests and looting. The unrest began in Southport, Lancashire, following the fatal stabbings of three young girls attending a dance class. Misinformation on social media exacerbated the situation, leading to widespread violence in cities including Belfast, Plymouth, and Birmingham. Nearly 400 arrests have been made.

A Lush store in Hull was heavily damaged, with around 70% of its stock stolen or destroyed. The incident was captured on video, showing people looting the store and laughing with stolen goods. The unrest also impacted other high-street retailers. Riot police have clashed with protesters in multiple locations.
