Heavy rain and thunderstorms swept across the Netherlands and Belgium this week. In the East Flanders town of Haaltert, it also went wild. During this storm, part of the roof of a furniture shop flew off. This incident resulted in the shop temporarily closing its doors. How long the shop will remain closed is not yet known.
The victim of the storm is furniture shop Torrekens Exclusive. "It is with pain in our hearts that we must inform you that Torrekens Exclusive suffered significant damage on Tuesday, July 9, due to a severe storm. The storm, which hit our region with extraordinary force, severely damaged our premises, affecting our daily operations. A large part of our roof blew away and came down on another part of the shop, causing significant damage. Inside the shop, the floors, walls and a lot of furniture were badly damaged. Water and debris have taken their toll," the home furnishing shop's website reads.
Orders and deliveries from the two other shops, Torrekens Wonen and Torrekens Slapen in Denderhoutem, remain active. There is therefore no delay in order processing and/or delivery. "Due to the extent of the damage, we are forced to close our shop in Haaltert indefinitely. This means that we cannot currently receive customers in our physical shop. We have already started the repair work and are doing our utmost to be operational again as soon as possible. The recovery process also gives us the opportunity to implement some planned improvements so that we can serve you even better in the future."
