Interview Pil Marie Gilkær-Bernard, Porcelanosa Country Manager for Denmark:

'We're aiming to gain presence and brand recognition in the Nordics'

Porcelanosa, a renowned Spanish company known for its innovative ceramic tiles, bathroom equipment, kitchen solutions, and building materials, has set its sights on expanding its presence in the Nordics. We interview Pil Marie Gilkær-Bernard, the Porcelanosa Country Manager for Denmark, to discuss their first participation at 3daysofdesign.

This was your first participation at 3daysofdesign. How was the event?
'We are thrilled! The event this year has attracted more visitors than ever before! We have had many visitors coming from all over the world, eager to run the vibrant streets of Copenhagen, and get inspiration from the many exhibitions, talks and showrooms set up at the occasion. Porcelanosa chose the courtyard of Odd Fellow Palace located on gorgeous Bredgade, at the heart of the Danish capital to showcase a Nordic-inspired selection of materials and unique solutions for indoor and outdoor.'

The theme of 3daysofdesign was 'Dare to Dream'. How did you apply this during the event?
'It is a concept that applies perfectly to our mission here in the Nordics, as we aim to gain presence and get a greater brand recognition on these markets. We also dreamt of a place where to invite our clients in stunning surroundings, the Palace and 3Days provided us the perfect frame for that. We also believe that our curated selection of furniture and cladding materials inspired our visitors to dare to dream of new ways to create beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces.'

What products did you show at the fair?
'XTONE stoneware and GAMADECOR´s off-road kitchen were the stars of the show!

Porcelanosa presented an impressive table made with the XTONE Alpinus White large format porcelain tile. The natural-inspired ceramic collections, such as the Calacatta Gold or XLIGHT Astana Grey marble effect, stood out among the proposals. Noken exhibited the Lignage taps and the Slender basins. Meanwhile, L'Antic Colonial showed a selection of natural stone and metal mosaics, together with the GEO collection from its S-tile small format ceramic line. Gamadecor surprised with its Offroad Kitchen, a special model for outdoor spaces, and equipped with the worktop that integrates the dual invisible cooking system, Smart Kitchen. At the same time, Krion showed some of the designs of its Fitwall decorative panels. Among these, the Palm Mediterranean model stood out.'

How were the reactions of the visitors of 3daysofdesign?
'The reactions were very positive. We can easily say that there is a rising interest in the use of ceramics and stoneware in the interior design field. The notions of naturality, durability, sustainability and materiality are hot trends, more than trends, they are becoming a must when working on projects.'

Are there things that could have been done better at the event?
'The weather! Jokes aside, it would be nice for the next edition to be able to share some know-how about ceramics as Porcelanosa has a long experience in making tiles. The company works with the most innovative technologies in the world in terms of stone or clay-based products. We have been asked many questions about the extent of possibilities for these materials, their properties and uses, and how to handle it when it comes to working on a project. We would be delighted to share more of this knowledge.'

How is the market in Denmark right now?
'The Danish market is growing, as the construction market is relatively stable here. There is a rising opportunity in renovations. There is a high demand for eco-certified products, and building solutions that combine quality, customising and beauty. One of the key factors of success is our transparency through the multiple processes of sourcing, production and delivery of our products and solutions.'
