Calia Italia made a significant impact in Milan during the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024 and the opening of its new Flagship Store in via Molino delle Armi 49. Founded in Matera in 1965 and deeply connected to its origins, Calia Italia has consistently produced upholstered design furniture that combines a contemporary aesthetic with high comfort and extensive customisation options.
At the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024, located in Pavilion 3, the company's stand featured a perimeter kerb adorned with monograms in relief and elegant navy blue velvet draperies. This setting showcased new collections and underscored Calia Italia's commitment to "Green" issues. The strong bond with Matera was reflected in the wall patterns created by artist Stefano Siggillino, whose abstract lines and primary colours represented Matera's "Sassi" and the Murgia. These patterns inspired additional decorations for cushions and plaids displayed alongside the products.
Among the new offerings, the collection I Sassi, designed by Timothee Studio, stood out. Inspired by Matera's famous limestone Sassi, the collection featured modular elements with sinuous, organic lines, enhancing both conversation and comfort. Another notable introduction was the Skyline sofa, characterized by its compact seat and matelassé workmanship.
Calia Italia also ventured into outdoor décor with two new pieces: the Norman outdoor armchair, designed with Daniele Della Porta, and the Pralin outdoor modular sofa. The latter is notable for its ease of disassembly and storage, as well as its recyclability. The company's focus on sustainability was further exemplified by the U'Strozz Eco ottoman, a reimagining of the iconic U'Strozz with an FSC-certified wooden base and upholstery made from recycled materials.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Decò-style armchair Hotel, Calia Italia introduced new chaise longue and 3-seater sofa versions, previewed at the Salone del Mobile.Milano. Additional highlights included the matelassé sofa Liberty for the Mater Familias collection and the L'Èclair model for the Gourmandise collection, both reflecting the company's environmental values and circular economy principles.
During the Design Week, Calia Italia welcomed guests on 18 April for the official opening of its first Flagship Store in Milan. The spectacular three-floor space, covering 400 sqm, showcased a wide range of the brand's bestselling models and new collections, marking a significant milestone in the company's history.
