'Exhibiting some of the most significant objects of all time'

Famous Swedish auction house celebrates 350 years

Stockholms Auktionsverk celebrates 350 years of auctions by presenting an anniversary exhibition with some of the most significant objects of all time. For three and a half centuries, Stockholm's Auktionsverk has been a gathering point for extraordinary works of art and antiques - which in themselves constitute small parts of history.

All objects acquired at Stockholms Auktionsverk carry their own stories and to draw attention to them, organisers have sought to bring together some of the most influential objects that have passed through the auction rooms since 1674. For the Jubilee exhibition, organisers have gathered a carefully selected collection of works and objects from different chapters in our history.

The exhibition consists of around 40 different objects, where you will be able to see, among other things, desks, bureaus and chairs. In the auction's records is a desk, which is now called a high-class Late Gustavian Stockholm work. This belonged to Duchess Hedvig Elisabeth Charlotta – married to Gustav III's brother Duke Karl and Queen of Sweden 1809–1818. It has passed the Stockholm Auction House no less than three times over the years!
