Spot prices in container shipping from Asia to Europe and the U.S. continue to rise. According to the World Container Index by consultant Drewry, the cost of transporting a forty-foot container from Shanghai to Rotterdam has increased by an average of 5% this week, from $4,999 to $5,270 per container. Container prices also saw a significant increase last week. Nieuwsblad Transport (NT) reports that the 'extremely early Christmas imports' are causing container rates to climb further.
