The majestic dunes of fine sand shaped by the Mistral wind, the wild nature of the Costa Verde, the crystal-clear sea, and the scents of the Mediterranean scrub, including mastic trees, brooms, strawberry trees, and junipers. In southwestern Sardinia, in Ingurtosu, Le Dune Piscinas hotel features contemporary design in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment and nature, which takes centre stage here.
An old mining warehouse now hosts a 5-star luxury hotel situated directly on the beach. The architectural renovation project, carried out by FVR Engineering of Padua led by architect Enrico Favero, and for the interiors, by PL-AG STUDIO of Brescia led by architects Antonio Gardoni and Luca Platto, has enhanced the original structure of the old warehouse by introducing new design elements in combination with interventions by local artisans.
In the former mining warehouse, the environment that most represents the history of this place, the renovation work was meticulous in rediscovering the pre-existing features and preserving the distinctive historical marks.
The original stone floor was restored, and the missing parts integrated with Orosei marble. Wooden beams were incorporated with recovered historical beams, and the thick local stone walls were left exposed. The large original fireplace remains the focal point of the lounge, flanked by two large canvases by Gianfranco Guerzoni. Here the American bar I Gechi finds its space, where, in its outdoor area on the small square overlooking the beach, various Pedrali products are showcased. These include Panarea armchairs by CMP Design in a dark blue hue, Reva Twist lounge armchairs and sofas, and Elliot tables, both by Patrick Jouin, in neutral tones, offering guests a relaxing evening under the starry sky.
The Panarea collection is rooted in the colours and refreshing breeze of an outdoor dinner. It features a traditional element in polypropylene cord hand-woven in Italy that wraps around the steel tube frame. A comfortable cushion in dry-feel polyurethane foam that dries quickly and is covered in fabric made from the same yarn used for the woven element rests on the seat.
Reva Twist, on the other hand, is characterized by smooth lines and generous sizes. The sofa and lounge armchair have four tapered legs in die-cast aluminium placed at the extremities of the perimeter frame in extruded aluminium.
A multipurpose space was also built within the resort, initially designed as a library but also serving as a meeting and event space. Furnished with Malmö chairs designed by CMP Design, this room houses extensive documentation on Sardinian culture and tradition, specifically the history of the mining site.
