Since arriving in France in 2007, the Danish furniture retailer Jysk has been rapidly growing, now boasting 72 stores across the country, primarily in smaller towns in the northern region.
With new locations in Metz, Châteauroux, and Denain, the Danish furniture giant has opened 30 stores since 2020. Although present in the country since 2007, Jysk's expansion has accelerated dramatically in recent years. This week, the company opened its 72nd store in Denain, near Valenciennes. Since the pandemic, Jysk has doubled its revenue in France to 68 million euros.

Often compared to IKEA due to its Scandinavian roots and affordable prices, Jysk sets itself apart with smaller store sizes and a diverse range of brands such as Simmons, Dodo, and Dunlopillo. This strategy has been key to its growing success in the French market.
In France, Jysk has targeted smaller towns, emphasising garden furniture, which accounts for 35-40% of its revenue. 'We have a stronger network than our competitor. We are often the only player in an area with 45,000 inhabitants,' explains Luc Weiland,' the head of expansion for Jysk in France. Ultimately, the company has the ambitious goal of opening 500 stores in France.
