The Brico Privé site is set to permanently close its operations. Following its acquisition by the Les Mousquetaires group in 2020, the company has encountered significant challenges. The closure, slated for this summer, will result in the termination of employment for 174 workers, with 130 based in Toulouse and 44 in Lyon.
Established in Toulouse in 2012 by Julien Boué and Marc Levergery, Brico Privé specialised in offering DIY, household appliances, and home furnishing items at competitive prices. However, sales had been declining for three years, despite initial plans to achieve a turnover of €150 million in 2020 and eventually reach €200 million after a €70 million investment.
Unions initiated a strike on February 29, lasting over a month, in response to the announcement of the cessation of activity in January.
