Barker and Stonehouse is the latest high-profile company to join the new retail membership category, created by British Furniture Manufacturers.
Launched in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse is the UK's largest independent, family-run furniture retailer, with 11 stores nationwide and a reputation for quality, style and value.
The BFM's new retail membership category, launched in 2023, recognises companies committed to selling and promoting British made goods and is open to retailers across the UK.
Phil Spademan MD of the BFM, says, 'Barker and Stonehouse is widely recognised for championing British manufactured goods, and we are delighted to have them join our retail membership.'
He continues: 'They spearheaded the campaign 'Let's Get Going Britian!' bringing on board the BFM and other industry bodies in 2020, to lead the charge for British furniture manufacturing. Barker and Stonehouse has taken an active role in re-energising the industry and reinforcing the value of British-made goods. We look forward to working with them, and our other retail members, to continue to get this message across.'
BFM Approved Retailers receive marketing material to help them showcase their British made credentials to customers. They also have access to a range of BFM benefits to support commercial activities and staff members and are eligible to participate in the BFM's Future of Furniture campaign, which highlights the value and variety of careers within the industry, as well as showcasing the steps the industry is taking to support a greener approach to manufacturing.
