In March 2024, there was a slight decrease in furniture production, marking the end of three consecutive months of growth, while the value of domestic goods increased compared to the previous month but declined compared to the same period last year.

According to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), furniture production decreased by 1.1% compared to February and dropped by 7.8% compared to March of the previous year. Production output for March 2024 is estimated to have increased by 0.2%, following a growth of 1% in February 2024.
Meanwhile, the value of furniture manufacture in March was £885 million, representing a 2.5% increase from £862.9 million in February. However, compared to the same period last year, the value decreased by 13% from £1,019.1 million.
Regarding furniture manufacturer exports, there was a 6.2% increase to £54.5 million for the month compared to £51.3 million previously. However, exports value decreased by 8.4% compared to last year, from £59.5 million.
The value of domestic furniture manufacture increased by 2.3% to £830.5 million from £811.6 million in the month, but it declined by 13.4% from £959.6 million last year.
