Italian design company Midj jumps into the future with the Kosmos collection, made in collaboration with the versatile designer Karim Rashid. With its minimalist forms and bright colours, Kosmos becomes an iconic item in the creation process that connects the work of the designer and Midj's own R&D department, l'Officina delle Idee, embracing the philosophy "Design is a wonderful life".
Kosmos is a trip down memory lane. It is inspired by the 60s, a period of exploration, colours, and shapes. Those were the years in which creativity was the main character and the moon landing opened endless possibilities to the collective imagination. It also gives space to both concrete and abstract search beyond the known.
Kosmos captures that period energy and transforms it into a design pouf with minimalist and extremely coloured forms. The central band is Karim Rashid's own signature and describes the multifaceted personality of a designer that loves to play with forms and colours. Rashid describes his creation as follows: 'I always say that my world-view is as if I came from another planet, and that is why I would like to live on the moon. That's why I created Kosmos, a soft, floating rock for Midj. These are minimalist and at the same time comfortable poufs. Growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, everyone had such an optimistic vision of the future, experimenting with new forms and technologies. This vision continues to inspire me today, with the goal of creating progressive products that combine the human touch with the physical world.'
Kosmos pouf was designed to decorate both living and waiting rooms and stand out for its boundless aesthetic. The pouf is available in 3 different sizes and in different colours, with a coloured band that can either match or be in contrast with the rest of the pouf. It can easily change its appearance through an optional backrest that can be placed along the entire seat without any fastening system. This result is possible thanks to an invisible weight that grants it stability without compromising its minimalist design.
Kosmos becomes a tribute to spatial exploration and human curiosity, creating a bridge with the future.
