Furniture imports from the UK show decline

Furniture imports from the UK are showing a decline, while furniture exports into the UK have increased. In February 2024, the total value of furniture imports into Britain was £662.2 million, reflecting a 1% decline compared to the same month the previous year, according to the latest UK trade data analysed by Big Furniture Group.

Imports from the European Union (EU) showed an increase of 5.7% to £334 million, with notable growth observed in imports from Poland (up 18.9% to £69.6 million), Italy (up 2.6% to £63.9 million), and Germany (up 0.8% to £52 million). However, Belgian imports decreased by 22% to £4.6 million.


Outside the EU, total imports decreased by 7% to £328.1 million.

On the export front, the total value of UK furniture exports increased by 1.1% to £197.2 million year-on-year. European exports surged by 21% to £103.7 million, driven by significant growth in exports to Ireland (up 73% to £31.8 million) and France (up 13% to £28.4 million).

However, exports outside the EU declined by 14.5% to £93.4 million.
