The highlights: day 1 of Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024

The first day of the 62nd edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano at Rho Fiera kicked off with a bang, boasting a diverse line-up of exhibitions, discussions, and nearly 2,000 exhibitors. With the theme "Where Experience Evolves", this year's fair aims to create lasting value for exhibitors while fostering cultural exchanges and sensory experiences.

The grand opening ceremony, led by President Maria Porro and other esteemed figures, marks the beginning of what promises to be a transformative event in the world of furniture design and manufacturing. From April 16 to 21, Milan becomes the epicentre of global design innovation.

The focal points of this year's Salone del Mobile.Milano include the biennials EuroCucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition, celebrating its 25th anniversary. Additionally, the renowned SaloneSatellite, conceptualised by Marva Griffin, takes centre stage with its theme "Connecting Design since 1998".

EuroCucina 2024 explores the future of kitchen design, emphasising sustainability, flexibility, and integration with other living spaces. Meanwhile, the International Bathroom Exhibition showcases new aesthetic languages and materials, transforming bathrooms into havens of well-being and self-care.

The cultural program features captivating talks and roundtable discussions, curated by Annalisa Rosso, with distinguished figures like Francis Kéré and John Pawson. David Lynch's "A Thinking Room" installation offers visitors a moment of reflection amidst the bustling fair, while SaloneSatellite celebrates emerging designers and fosters connections with industry veterans.

Finally, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile and the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition showcase the latest trends in indoor and outdoor furniture, with collaborations between iconic Italian brands and international designers taking centre stage. From Minotti's modular seats to Kartell's floral-inspired prints, innovation and creativity abound at every corner of the fair.
