Homesense gears up to make an impact in the American furniture industry

The American brand Homesense is worth paying attention to in the furniture industry. As a part of the TJX family, the team behind the brand is gearing up to make a big impact in the industry. Homesense has just over 55 stores currently, and there are now plans to expand its footprint in new locations, among these, Texas, where it will open a new store this month. If this growth trend persists, Homesense could evolve into a chain with hundreds of stores.

On the surface, Homesense may seem like a mirror image of its sibling brand, HomeGoods. Both are off-price retailers, often found in shopping centres, offering a constantly changing array of home furnishings. However, a closer examination reveals that Homesense has a stronger focus on furniture. This distinction makes Homesense a big competitor to traditional furniture retailers.

Though Homesense's presence is currently smaller than HomeGoods, with only two stores in Texas compared to HomeGoods' 71, the brand is steadily expanding. TJX, renowned for brands like T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, introduced Homesense to the United States in 2017, leveraging its success in Canada, Europe, and Australia. The rollout has been deliberate, with around 17 new locations slated for this year alone. When combined with the stores opened in 2023, Homesense is on track to having nearly 70 stores nationwide in the near future.
