Team Sweden High-Level is a forum where Sweden's business community is invited to dialogue with responsible ministers. Attending the meeting is TMF's Industry and Business Policy Manager Cecilia Ask Engström.
'We participate as representatives of our member companies, with a special focus on those significantly affected by exports. Political decisions have a significant impact on our member companies' ability to compete in the global market, so it is very good that the government takes the initiative to invite to these occasions and that we have the opportunity to raise issues that are important to our members,' says Cecilia Ask Engström.
During the day, there will be a discussion under the heading "Strategy for Sweden's Foreign Trade, Investments, and Global Competitiveness". Both Ebba Busch and Johan Forsell will participate in the conversation. In recent years, Swedish furniture exports have increased, but the trend stalled in 2023. However, over 70 percent of Swedish furniture production is still exported. Continued efforts are important for the Swedish furniture industry to continue to grow and compete internationally.
'Swedish furniture companies play an important role in creating a positive image of Sweden, and for this to continue, political action is also needed. It has been tough years economically for the industry, so we look forward to hearing more about planned efforts to stimulate Swedish exports. We would like to see initiatives such as helping small and medium-sized enterprises participate in international trade fairs, Swedish diplomatic missions abroad showcasing Swedish design products to a greater extent, and greater efforts to strengthen intellectual property rights to combat piracy.'
