Amazon has been fined with 31 million zloty (about €7.100.000 million) by Poland's consumer watchdog, UOKiK, for misleading customers regarding product availability and delivery dates, the agency announced on Wednesday.
According to UOKiK, numerous complaints were lodged by customers who failed to receive their orders within the promised timeframe. The watchdog highlighted practices such as displaying a countdown timer on the screen, indicating a limited timeframe for placing orders without a guarantee of timely delivery. Amazon's press office responded, asserting the company's intention to appeal the decision. 'While the vast majority of our deliveries arrive on time, customers can contact us in the rare event that they experience a delay or order cancellation, and we will make it right.'

Furthermore, Amazon emphasised its collaboration with UOKiK over the past year, proposing voluntary amendments to enhance customer experience on Amazon.pl. The company affirmed its commitment to complying with legal standards across all operating countries and expressed strong disagreement with UOKiK's assessment and penalty.
