Consumers in France are showing a renewed interest in beds and mattresses, with a 5% increase in orientation in the year 2023. The previous year (2022) had seen a decline of 6%.
Marktdata.nl has, as previously done for the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, analyzed French-language search traffic for beds on the Google search engine in France over the past four years. More than 213 million search queries and over 15,000 different search terms related to beds and mattresses were dissected, providing a clear picture of the French market structure and market trends in the area of beds and mattresses.

The data show that over the past four years, more than 4.5 million search queries have been made monthly in France on the topic of beds and mattresses. In the first year of the coronavirus pandemic, interest in beds and mattresses grew strongly, followed by an 8% increase in interest levels in the year 2021. However, there was a downturn in the year 2022, with a related search volume decrease of 6%. A turnaround was noted in the past year 2023, where a 5% increase was registered.
Compared to the Dutch, Belgian, and German markets, the French bedding industry generally shows a similar movement. The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany also recorded a decrease in consumer interest in beds and mattresses in the year 2022.
