Maria C Bernhardsson:

'For me, it was important to design a wallpaper with a colourful and happy feeling'

At Stockholm Furniture Fair, SPOK Sample highlighted local manufacturing in Sweden. SPOK (Contemporary production and consumption) is a digital platform for production that aims to collect and spread knowledge about local manufacturing possibilities, from crafts to industry. In the matching project "DES&DO!" designers and local manufacturers from Västra Götaland worked together. One of the DES&DO! products was the "Howdy" wallpaper from Maria C Bernhardsson, artist and graphic designer at Tavelhus and Ulricehamns Tapetfabrik.

'For me, it was important to design a wallpaper with a colourful and happy feeling.
The "Howdy" wallpaper is available in several colourways, each with its own unique expression. The bouquet represents my passion for flowers and colours, while the boots symbolise my years in the fashion industry and the bird captures the curious and free-spirited feeling when I throw myself into a new project,' she says.

The stand showcased the products of 14 teams of designers and regional manufacturers who have each developed a new product, idea or concept, with a focus on sustainable development and local materials. The exhibition presents products, ideas, sketches and prototypes that the teams developed together over six months. The purpose of the matching project is to inspire more collaborations and make visible the diversity of manufacturing and design that exists in Västra Götaland.
