Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti collaborate to present a reinterpretation of an iconic armchair

An icon of the Italian design and a flagship product of the company, Vanity Fair XC redefines a classic which, even in this new “Imagine Reality” special edition, is the brainchild of a joint effort with Fornasetti. Drawing inspiration from the Poltrona Frau’s “2024 Imagine Collection”, it once again took the industry by the storm.

An image of the sun and of the moon rise from a whirl of clouds decorating the entire surface of the armchair. A dreamlike, mysterious and surreal image, a trademark style of Fornasetti’s, retrieved from his historical archive and specially developed for Poltrona Frau. An ode to the power and freedom of imagination.

The frame is made of seasoned beech solid wood. It is padded using both hand-modelled vegetable horsehair and rubberised horsehair while the cushion of the seat is made of goose feather, with an expanded polyurethane insert to ensure it maintains its shape over time. The seat, backrest and armrests come with springing made of biconical hand-tied steel springs fastened to jute belts.

'Our icon in a limited edition of 50 pieces decorated with an original design by Fornasetti printed on Pelle Frau Impact Less leather.'

The rear and sides of the armchair are refined by a row of leather-covered nails. The lining comes with a Pelle Frau Impact Less leather, that is printed digitally with slightly relief effect. The rear of the backrest features a gun barrel grey finish plate bearing the Fornasetti x Poltrona Frau logo and serial number.

Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti: an unprecedented joint effort by two historical Made in Italy brands. A partnership between high-end craftsmanship and Italian creativity to take the luxury interior design industry to greater heights.

Right from the early 50s, Fornasetti’s unique style took the interior decoration industry by the storm: a refined and unique visual language, with traits of refined and metaphoric classicism alongside surreal humour. An ode to freedom of expression transforming furniture and furnishing objects into mysterious meaningful household items.
