Memphis Tribute: The new Italica capsule collection unveiled at Maison&Objet

During the 30th edition of Maison&Objet concluded in Paris (January 18-22), Italica Tailormade Furniture, a company specialising in high-end custom-made furniture, presented its new capsule collection giving homage to the Memphis movement.

Michele and Emmanuelle Tamma, designers for Italica, have always been passionate about bright colours and pure geometric shapes; thus, for this new collection, they naturally drew their inspiration from the typical language of the 80s embodied by Ettore Sottsass and the Memphis group.

Around ten colourful pieces were imagined by the designer couple: bedside tables, stools, mirrors, and a desk are part of their new collection, which holds the DNA of the Italica brand, namely being able to personalise each piece of furniture according to artisanal practice. For example, the Ettore desk top presented at Maison&Objet was completely hand-painted by Italica artisans. Furthermore, the colours and dimensions of the collection furniture may vary according to the wishes of the customer and thus, each single piece would become unique.

Considering this new collection's success, Italica plans to include new pieces of furniture: next spring a console, a coffee table, a dining table, and lamps will complete the Memphis Tribute collection. As new arrivals, a range of glassware and tableware should also arise.
