The project involves the penthouse apartment of a new building in a mountain village in Trentino-South Tyrol. The client's desire was to create a holiday home in the midst of nature as a contemporary, tailor-made refuge with all the amenities of modern life.
The centrepiece of the living area is an open space with floor-to-ceiling windows, establishing a dialogue with the surrounding forest and mountain landscape. The three living spaces are seamlessly connected and lead into a kitchen with dining area. The selected furniture and their surfaces are kept in light, neutral colours in the communal areas, accentuating the clients' art collection. In contrast, the kitchen is characterised by contrasting, darker tones. The sleeping area is more private: it consists of a series of independent suites, each with its own bathroom and access to the surrounding terrace.
The rustic materials of wood and stone, typical of mountain houses, are reinterpreted in a contemporary way in this apartment. In contrast, the floor-to-ceiling, custom-made wall cladding in the entrance area refers to the traditional mountain world. The panels made of stone pine wood incorporate ornamental inlays inspired by local craftsmanship, and the essential oils contained in the wood moisturize the air in the room.
