In a strategic shift, Ikea has announced the closure of two of its stores in Stockholm – one located in Bromma Blocks and the other in Sickla. However, the closure does not mark a retreat but rather a recalibration of the furniture giant's expansion strategy in the region.
'It is in our DNA to constantly renew and improve, and we have done a lot of that in recent years here in Stockholm. We plan to open even better versions of our smaller units soon and can provide more information as soon as the plans are finalised,' says Graeme Smith, area manager Stockholm for Ikea Sweden.

The decision comes as both lease agreements for the Bromma Blocks and Sickla stores are set to expire in May 2024. Ikea indicates that the closures are aimed at paving the way for the next phase of its growth in Stockholm, aligning with the company's commitment to constant renewal and improvement.
