Winners of the Champagne Chair contest

Can you make furniture out of Champagne bottles?

The winners of a unique contest challenging participants to fashion chairs using only materials sourced from champagne bottles have been announced. This annual competition, now in its 20th year, attracted over 200 entries.

Organised by MillerKnoll's modern living brand Design Within Reach (DWR) and Champagne Pommery, a renowned French champagne producer, the Champagne Chair contest pushes designers to transform the foil, cap, cage, and cork of a champagne bottle into functional works of art.

Prizes were allocated for the Most Original design, the Best Likeness of any chair sold by DWR, and the coveted Pommery Prize. The winning designs:

- The Gaudi Chair by Alexa Minc was crowned the victor in the Most Original category, earning acclaim from the judging panel.
- The Thonet Loie Lounge Chiar by Shannon DeCock was picked for Best Likeness.
- Champagne Pommery bestowed the Pommery Prize upon the Hand Chair crafted by Aspen VanHooser, recognizing its exceptional artistry.
