German company Sudbrock expands range and offers more variety in premium furniture

The family-owned company Sudbrock, based in Rietberg-Bokel, has evolved further since the last regular furniture fair in Cologne four years ago, as stated by owner Theres Sudbrock in Cologne. For the first time in its 101-year history, Sudbrock has added sleeping furniture to its product range, alongside wardrobes and living room furniture. Additionally, Sudbrock now offers an even greater variety of options for its handcrafted quality system furniture than before, along with two new colours.

The sleeping area has been completely expanded with wardrobe, bed, and bedside furniture systems, reports CEO Theres Sudbrock. This positions Sudbrock as a comprehensive solution provider for holistic interior design.

Fresh new start
"Fresh new start" was also the motto for Sudbrock's trade fair appearance in Cologne. Theres Sudbrock notes with satisfaction, 'We are gaining more and more fans as a brand for individual and stylish furnishings.' The new co-CEO, Anton Flechtner (43), adds, 'Sudbrock offers highly individualised furniture masterpieces with premium craftsmanship that can easily expand into consistent interior design concepts. And all this from sustainably sourced wood.'

'Sudbrock's system furniture has been based on a freely customisable empty carcass for over 16 years, allowing for numerous variations in material selection and great flexibility in dimensions. According to preference, the carcass can be equipped as an open compartment or with drawers, flaps, doors, or a glass front. The interior adapts to the front image, creating a seamless appearance,' as emphasised by Theres Sudbrock. 'Due to the flexible construction, furniture such as those from the "CUBO" series can be ordered freestanding, on legs, or wall-mounted,' explains the company's CEO.

In Cologne, Sudbrock showcased not only bedroom furniture but also new living and wardrobe compositions with slat panels and textured surfaces. Customers can choose from around 40 lacquer and wood tones, including high-gloss lacquer. The new colours include Almond and Powder in combination with Sahara Oak and Milk Oak. Back-painted glass surfaces in glossy or frosted finishes are also possible. Ceramic cover sheets in slate or limestone appearance complete the offering.

The business year 2023 was satisfactory for Sudbrock (120 employees). Owner Theres Sudbrock states, 'Despite the challenging market environment for residential furniture, we have come through the past year better than expected.' She also expresses the intention to continue operating steadily in the current year.

About Sudbrock
The family-owned company Sudbrock, located in the East Westphalian village of Rietberg-Bokel, has a 101-year history in personalised furniture craftsmanship. Led in its third generation by Theres Sudbrock and, after the passing of Johannes Sudbrock, the new CEO Anton Flechtner. Approximately 120 employees design and produce high-quality residential furniture, wardrobes, tables, and bedroom furnishings according to customer specifications and only upon order.

Thanks to its numerous specialists, Sudbrock operates with a depth of production that is increasingly rare worldwide. Over three-quarters of production employees are trained carpenters. The knowledge of woods and finishes, the mitred carcass with solid wood edges, or the processing of fine material thicknesses are passed down from generation to generation.

This allows Sudbrock to perform all individual production steps, from solid wood and veneer processing to surface lacquering and final assembly, using locally sourced wood. The entire process takes place in their own factory in Bokel. The factory also houses a 1,000 square meter showroom, open to all interested parties every Friday (3-6 pm) and Saturday (8 am-1 pm).
