Gupica presents two new wallpapers designed for Wall&decò

Quadratura and Delight are the two new surfaces designed by Gupica for Wall&decò, presented at the 2024 edition of Maison&Objet.

Presented in Paris at the latest edition of Maison&Objet, Quadratura is the new surface designed by Gupica for Wall&decò. Used by architectural illusionistic painters, quadratura was a common pictorial genre from the Renaissance to the Baroque period: it employs trompe l'oeil, perspective and other spatial effects to create the illusion of a three-dimensional space on a flat surface through the skilful pictorial use of light and shadow.

Gupica reinterprets this practice to create a deliberately imperfect, out-of-scale appearance, lending a humanised touch to a discipline that requires perfect execution in technique and rendering.

Delight
Delight is the new wallpaper designed by Gupica for Wall&decò, showcased at the 2024 edition of Maison&Objet. The wallpaper is a meticulously hand-painted garden by Gupica. The painting takes inspiration from the motif of the Hortus conclusus, a private Eden, a place for delight and contemplation often depicted in the sacred art, and the figurative arts in general, from the late Middle Ages to the Renaissance.

This garden, its flowerbeds planted with precious, minutely-detailed herbs and flowers, is a symbolic, almost mystical place, a microcosmic escape from reality.
