Kuka Sleep opens big new mattress factory in US

Kuka Sleep, a prominent mattress manufacturer, is set to inaugurate its new factory on Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas. The factory is over 45,000 square metres. The strategic move aims to maintain a steady supply of mattresses for its US clientele.

The facility, positioned as an assembly plant for mattresses destined for the US market, reflects Kuka Sleep's commitment to bolstering its production capabilities. The company had previously acquired 90 acres in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, in 2022 with plans to construct four facilities for mattress and upholstery production.

The decision to expedite the opening of the US factory was influenced by the recent antidumping petition that encompassed Mexico. An antidumping petition is a formal request or complaint filed by domestic industries or companies with their government, alleging that foreign companies are selling goods in the domestic market at prices below their fair market value. The purpose of such petitions is to protect domestic industries from unfair competition and ensure a level playing field.

The factory, designed with 40-foot-high ceilings for warehousing purposes, will assemble mattresses using materials from Kuka Sleep's existing factories. The expansion to Dallas aligns with the company's growth strategy in the mattress category and underscores its dedication to supporting local economies and generating job opportunities within the community.

As part of the inauguration, Kuka Sleep will host an open house and grand opening event today, January 24, showcasing the state-of-the-art facility.
