The Maison&Objet fair at Paris finished yesterday, Monday January 22. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Maison&Objet, the fair showed its participants a revitalised future that combines technology and nature!
This season's theme was, TECH EDEN, with reinvented feature spaces oriented toward the retail, residential, or hospitality industries. Places where nature will be very much on hand, not necessarily in a literal sense, but sometimes digitally speaking and, to varying degrees, mineral, lush, and hybrid. It was a mix of nature and technology that's sure to re-energise the concept of sustainability and create a truly desirable vision of the future!
Over 2500 brands presented their new collections and products. There were trends, talks, talents … and a focus on current trends!

The InteriorDaily team also travelled to Paris to meet new international people and companies for this new B2B news website, but also spotted the latest trends and asked the exhibitors about their experiences.
Trends we have seen:
-A lot of colours! Especially bright colours, or darker shades of olive green and red were visible at the trade show. Also: we saw the Pantone Colour of the Year "Peach Fuzz" was used at some of the stands.
-Round shapes are still a popular choice, seen often in tables and sofa's.
-Soft materials were used, such as bouclé or fur.
-We've also seen a lot of rattan furniture, used for indoor or outdoor spaces.

What's new?
Maison & Objet showcased several rooms called "Nouveaux Mondes", presenting what's new in the world of interior design. Curated by Elizabeth Leriche, the space features pieces by Tarkett and Mutina. 'The spaces present fictional ecosystems where the major challenges facing our Earth are playing out: water, plant life and minerals. They are major sources of inspiration for creative design and embodiments of the necessary changes that await us,' the organisation mentioned.
The "Meta Vegetal" room represents and enchanted jungle. Botanical and floral motifs are combined with geometric shapes and intense deep greens. The presence of nature here inspires the emerging trend in biophilic design.
"Mineral Desert" shows mineral and solar-tinted shades. Primal, elemental shapes are paired with stone and ceramics.
"Deep Sea" takes us into the ocean. Soft, wavelike shapes, transparency and reflective effects, textures inspired by coral are central in the design. Spotlighted are bio-sources materials made from algae and recycled shells.
The next edition of Maison&Objet will take place from September 5 till 9.
