Furniture manufacturer Thielemeyer, based in Delbrück,Germany, has recently been awarded the RAL Quality Mark "Carbon-Neutral Furniture Manufacturing" by the German Quality Association for Furniture (DGM). The company from the Paderborn district calculated its CO2 balance for the year 2022 and, based on that, declared itself carbon neutral for the base year 2024.
Every individual and every company leaves a carbon footprint on the Earth. Participants in the Climate Pact aim to continuously reduce this footprint or, as a "Carbon-Neutral Manufacturer," even completely neutralise it for a calendar year – just like Thielemeyer now. After a thorough examination of all climate-relevant processes, the specialist in solid wood furniture has offset all its unavoidable CO2 emissions by investing in sustainable climate protection projects in the recognised "UN-CER" standard of the United Nations.

'The Climate Pact for the furniture industry aims to minimise CO2 emissions as much as possible and take responsibility for the 1.5-degree target,' explains DGM Managing Director Jochen Winning. The Quality Association launched the Climate Pact and the award "Carbon-Neutral Furniture Manufacturer" in 2016. In early 2022, the RAL Quality Mark "Carbon-Neutral Furniture Manufacturing" was developed from this.
'We are very pleased that Thielemeyer is now actively contributing to achieving the 1.5-degree target, and we gladly award them another RAL Quality Mark alongside their previous accolades, the "Golden M" for furniture quality and "Furniture Tested for Harmful Substances" for proven residential healthiness,' says Winning. As initial measures to reduce CO2 emissions, the specialist in solid wood has invested in new compressors and expanded its photovoltaic systems. Further climate protection measures are planned to follow.
