Austrian association for the timber industry Holzforschung Austria (HFA) announced its new director dr. Gerhard Grüll. He takes over as the head of the Institute and the management of HFA starting this year replacing Dr. Manfred Brandstätter, who has led the institute for more than 20 years and is retiring.

'Dr. Gerhard Grüll studied Wood Management at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. He completed his doctoral studies successfully at BOKU and the Vienna University of Technology in 2006. He has been working at HFA since 1992, serving as Head of the Surface and Furniture department since 2000, Head of Wood Protection and Bioenergy since 2013, and Deputy Institute Director since 2023. Furthermore, he has been a lecturer since 2009 and obtained his habilitation in 'Wood Surface Technology' at BOKU, Department of Material Science and Process Engineering, in 2022. Dr. Gerhard Grüll takes over a well-respected research and testing institute in the industry with modern infrastructure and a creative, well-coordinated team', mentions the HFA.
