Björn Nordin becomes the new CEO of Svensk Form

After an extensive recruitment process with numerous candidates, the board of Svensk Form has decided on the association's incoming CEO for 2024. 'It is with joy and pride that we introduce Björn Nordin as the new CEO of Svensk Form', the company shares.

Currently, Björn Nordin works as the Head of Architecture and Design at the industry organisation Svenskt Trä. His background in sustainability and his proximity to the industry—partly through practical experience as a furniture carpenter and through visionary projects at Svenskt Trä—are seen as significant assets in driving Svensk Form's activities into the future.

'It's instantly noticeable that Björn possesses the ability to engage with a pedagogical approach and a visionary outlook. This is precisely what the association needs to continue its successful work in promoting the transition to a sustainable society through good design. We offer Björn Nordin this important position with great confidence and optimism,' says Maria Lomholt, Chair of Svensk Form's board.

Björn Nordin brings years of experience in the field of design, notably through the numerous projects he has overseen. His longstanding and genuine commitment to sustainability has created an extensive network at local, regional, and international levels, spanning various arenas, including politics and business. With a diverse background as a furniture carpenter, network technician, and production manager, he has gained insights not only into the production chain but also acquired pedagogical skills, an innovative and analytical mindset for strategies in circular economies, and long-term relationship building. Björn Nordin's work is driven by a desire to develop and elevate the significance of design in society through research, political advocacy, and a close connection to authentic craftsmanship.

'Björn's focus on sustainability and his communication about circularity align perfectly with the association's vision and brand platform. I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Björn on several projects and am warmly passing the baton to Björn as the 34th leader of the world's oldest design organization,' says Mats Widbom, current CEO of Svensk Form.

'As the new CEO of Svensk Form, I hope to contribute to a culture that is innovative, inclusive, and sustainable. I aim to create platforms and networks to gather and disseminate knowledge and inspiration. Additionally, I want to enhance the dialogue about the significance of design to contribute to a sustainable, equitable, and less segregated society,' says Björn Nordin, incoming CEO of Svensk Form.

Björn Nordin assumes the position of CEO for Svensk Form on January 15, 2024.
