An interview with CEO of Saporiti Italia Raffaele Saporiti

Renowned Italian furniture and design company Saporiti Italia has furnished over a hundred luxury residences in Singapore, including notable projects like Le Nouvel Ardmore Apartment, Gramercy Park, and the Pearl Island Villas in Sentosa Cove. Group Chairman Raffaele Saporiti reflects on the company's 75-year legacy in the architecture and design world in an interview with CNA Luxury.

As a child, Raffaele Saporiti accompanied his father Sergio Saporiti, the founder of Saporiti Italia, on global expeditions. These experiences offered Raffaele an informal education and exposure to diverse cultures, providing insight into the company's operations and interactions. 'My father gave me this big gift: Curiosity", he says. This led Sergio to establish the company following his departure from a small furniture company in Italy.

Saporiti Italia's iconic designs, including pieces like the Miamina and Jumbo chairs, embody the company's rich heritage. Collaborations with esteemed architects like Alberto Rosselli and fashion brand Missoni further elevate their creations, showcased in renowned museums worldwide.

Sergio's vision integrated American Modernism and Scandinavian design, fusing Italian elegance. The company's groundbreaking initiatives, including the concept of monobrand showrooms and a global network, set a precedent in the industry. Beyond furniture, Saporiti Italia expanded its focus to interiors and architectural projects, establishing distinct segments within the company. 'We have the capacity to find solutions, be it one kilometre from the Saporiti office in Milan or thousands of kilometres away in Singapore', he says.
