Fritz Hansen celebrates 150 years with limited edition chairs

Danish furniture brand Fritz Hansen is releasing a limited production of 150 Egg chairs in a never-before-seen edition featuring a combination of rich Forest Green leather with a warm complementing copper tone base. These special collector’s items mark the closing of Fritz Hansen's 150th anniversary year. Each of the 150 chairs will bear an engraved metal plaque featuring its edition number, securing its place as a rare and singular collectable.

The limited-edition of 150 Egg chairs are made to mark the close of a historical year and the beginning of Fritz Hansen’s next chapter. Creating a special collector’s item with one of their most treasured icons designed by Arne Jacobsen is a fitting tribute to the legacy of design at Fritz Hansen. The limited-edition design of richly coloured Forest Green Pure Leather is paired with the warm copper tones of the star-shape stand.

'Marking the beginning of the next chapter for Fritz Hansen, we are creating a special collector’s item with one of our most treasured icons as a tribute to the extraordinary 150-year legacy of design we represent', says creative design director Marie-Louise Høstbo.

Only the finest materials are used in the limited-edition pieces. The chair's green colour references the green tones on the façade of Arne Jacobsen’s architectural masterpiece, the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Soft to the touch and with a natural grain structure, the material has a visible textured surface particular to each piece. Over time, the natural beauty of the leather will develop as the patina emerges. The chair features a PVD copper-coloured base created exclusively for the 2023 collector’s edition of the Egg chair. A limited worldwide release, each chair features an engraved metal plaque bearing its exclusive edition number of the 150 pieces available.
