Back in 1987, Oscar Tusquets, the Catalan architect and co-founder of BD Barcelona, introduced the wooden Gaulino chair, that paid homage to the organic architecture of Antoni Gaudì and furniture design of Carlo Mollino. Now, 36 years later, the Gaulino wooden furniture collection is introduced, sharing the same shape as the original.
The slender silhouette, originally envisioned by Tusquets in the late 1980s, is reinterpreted with meticulous attention to materials and details. The collection, including tables, chairs, and stools, is crafted from FSC-certified wood. Whether it's lacquered ash or stained black, the wood grain presents itself as organic lines and vibrant veins that harmonize with hand-stitched leather seats.
'The artisanal chair catalysed the creation of numerous sibling chairs. These include the Gaulino Easy (which is lighter and lower than its predecessor), the Gaulinetta (which is a slender, armless interpretation), and the Gaulino Stool (the little one). The BD range also expands from seating to tables. The Gaulino seats accompany the Gaulino selection of wooden dining tables and can sit with the Carlinas range of smoked glass tables. The classic Gaulino was a luxurious chair with a story. Now, it has a collection', BD Barcelona mentions on their website.
